The Department of Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Luxembourg is seeking to appoint a Doctoral Researcher on a 36-months fixed-term contract starting asap, at the latest March 1st, 2025.
Description of research topic
The world population is living longer while there is a growing number of people relocating to new countries. Consequently, one group is increasingly visible in modern societies—people who grow old in a new country or relocate countries as older individuals (ageing migrants). There are unique characteristics that sets apart this group from populations of older people and migrants: Ageing migrants are becoming old(er) while adapting to life in a new country. The double jeopardy of ageing and being a migrant has consequences that are specific to this population which makes ageing migrants at a high risk of poor health. Addressing the opportunities and obstacles to a long and healthy life in populations of migrants is one of the acute global challenges while the implementation of digital technologies is seen as a solution.
The candidate will develop, conduct, publish, and communicate research at the intersection of migration and ageing. Related topics of interest may be health and/ or technology. The candidate will be working directly with Dr. Adrian Stanciu.
